Turmeric Wellness Latte

I am experimenting with spices lately and trying to incorporate some Indian spices into my diet. Also, due to my daughters interest in eating vegan, I have been trying to stick to a plant based diet for myself too. I got a book "Healthy Happy Vegan" at the Chicago public library the other day to get some ideas and recipes to gain some inspiration and knowledge of what eating vegan really looks like.

Before bed last night, I came across a recipe for some "wellness lattes" and decided I would give one a try the next morning for breakfast.

I have to tell you, the turmeric latte scared me and I was sure that I would be completely grossed out BUT I made my mind up to try it despite the fact that it was very unfamiliar territory. My brother had bought me this cool "spices of India" pack for Christmas a few years back and I literally have not touched it since. I was just really unsure as to how to use these spices and wasn't very into experimenting until now.

So this morning I woke up, cleaned my house and after, I headed to the kitchen to make my breakfast. I kept the meal itself very simple with some PB2 toast loaded with blueberries and strawberries and I pulled out my "spices of India." I had great difficulty decided which one was actually turmeric but after searching google, I decided I was confident that this unfamiliar, weird smelling orange spice was the one.

I heated up my almond milk until it was piping hot and added it to my blender along with, maple syrup, 1/2 tsp of turmeric, a pinch or two of cinnamon and a dash of cayenne and started the blender on low. After a minute on low, I switched it on to high for about 30 seconds and I was done. I poured it into my favorite mug and added a bit of cinnamon to the top and I was ready to try!

I was delighted and relieved when the latte hit the back of my throat! IT IS AWESOME! Trust me when I tell you, I have zero experience with Indian spices and even smelling the turmeric weirded me out but the mix of almond milk, a little sweetness from the maple sugar and cinnamon and a slight undertone of spice from the cayanne is the perfect combo! Trust me, its delicious and you must try it!

Pour the hot almond milk into a blender and add all your ingredients.
