Beauty Tip Tuesday: DIY Foundation Powder

I have been trying to swap out my chemical packed life with clean products and DIY solutions. I recently made my own lip tint but I thought it was time to take it to the next level. I ran out of my bare essentials foundation the other day and so I headed to the store to get some arrowroot power and try my hand in making my own all natural powder foundation.

I have zero idea whats in the over the counter face powders, concealers and foundations. I never really cared before I started trying to eat better, and pay attention to what goes in or in this case, on my body. It sorta freaks me out to think about what is actually in typical make-up. Am I really smearing chemicals on my face and wondering why I am having breakouts?

So here’s what you need to make your own, chemical free, foundation.

Arrowroot powder (get it at your local health food store)

Cocoa powder or cinnamon (or both)

There is no exact science to how to make this foundation because it varies depending on what shade you are.

But here are the ingredients for the powder I made.

DIY Face Foundation

Ingredients

2 TBS arrowroot

1/4 tsp cocoa

a few dashes of cinnamon

Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl then pour into container of choice. I washed out an old make-up container and lid.

From the left, here is me without a touch of makeup on, then after the DIY foundation, and the final pic is me with the foundation as a base, a bit of blush on top and then applied my normal make-up to eyes and brows and capped it all off with my homemade lip tint and my face looks polished yet clean, not like I am wearing a mask, which I experienced with over the counter foundation.

This is an awesome way to save money on make-up and cut some of the chemicals out of your life. It's super easy so there's no excuse to try :)

Enjoy!
